HydroChip2
The HydroChip project focuses on the implementation of R2R-manufactured, functional microfluidics for the identification of periodontitis pathogens in a “lab-on-foil” format. R2R microspotting procedures and new ink formulations are being developed for the biofunctionalization of microfluidic structures with DNA capture molecules and the production of reagent reservoirs with hydrogel inks.
To significantly simplify the lysis process, different mixtures of ionic liquids are being produced and tested for the implementation of on-chip lysis. The development of novel 3D-structured nanoelectrodes is intended to achieve high-sensitivity detection of ribosomal bacterial RNA in the microfluidic channel.
The ICC group at IFA Tulln is a project partner in the project for the development of efficient lysis methods for periodontitis bacteria using ionic liquids. The aim is to achieve cell lysis in a short time and at room temperature and to test the compatibility of the cell lysate with subsequent labeling and detection on the microfluidic chip.
